Pete Saunders

Pete Saunders is the 2014 Duperreault Fellow.

Pete is currently pursuing a PhD in Human Development (Transformative Learning and Social Justice) at Fielding Graduate University with the intention of expanding his knowledge, practice, and skills in supporting individuals transcend limitations. For his research, he is exploring how men, starting with black men in Bermuda, might transcend disempowering narratives and ways of being. He is interested in men’s development, community transformation and ontological coaching.

To this end, Pete recently developed a transformative program called TRANSCEND to support recovering male addicts to go beyond addiction and recovery to create an empowering context, identity, and narrative to live into. He is partnering with Focus Counselling Services to deliver the first round of this program. The program will lead to developed resilience; self-correcting and self-generating capabilities; improved personal and professional relationships; more meaningful work/vocation for the participants; and men becoming agents of social change.

Pete completed his 12-month ontological coach training from Accomplishment Coaching, which is accredited by the International Coach Federation. He also has a Master’s degree (Summa Cum Laude ) in Human Services from Capella University. He has a background in banking, as an analyst; and in IT and NGO, as a marketing consultant.
