Application Timeline

  • Application Period: January 1 – April 30, 2026
  • Fellow Confirmation: May -June 2025

Application Forms Available:

  • Long-form application for the Fellowship (inclusive of two letters of recommendation, agency affiliation, personal statement, and financial request/requirements)
  • Short-form application for grants for local and overseas training

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Have obtained at least a high school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Demonstrate experience working or volunteering in the field.
  • Possess a committed desire to become a substance misuse prevention and/or intervention professional practicing in Bermuda.

Preference will be given to Bermudians, spouses of Bermudians, and those with a Permanent Resident Certificate.

Study Options

Candidates can pursue education at internationally accredited institutions in allied health fields such as social work, psychology, and mental health counselling, or in related fields with an emphasis on substance use disorder or addiction-focused coursework.

Training Areas

  • Certificate in alcohol and drug misuse/ addiction-focused prevention or intervention
  • Substance use disorder/ Addiction-focused Counseling
  • Public Health (substance use disorder/ addiction-focused)
  • Mental Health Counseling/Psychotherapy (substance use disorder/ addiction-focused)
  • Psychology (substance use disorder/ addiction-focused)
  • Clinical social work (substance use disorder/ addiction-focused)

Other training areas may be considered at the Committee's discretion.
